How much tax is deducted from your salary?
Enter your salary and see exactly how much income tax your employer deducts each month in tax year 2026-27, what you take home, and how every rupee of the tax is worked out — slab by slab. You can also switch to 2025-26 to see what changed under the Finance Act 2026. For business or freelance income, use the separate non-salaried calculator — those rates are different and higher.
Your gross monthly salary, before tax. If you earn a different amount, type it — the results update as you type.
Monthly salary × months worked. Typing here updates the monthly salary instead.
A yearly bonus is taxed as salary income in Pakistan, so it is added to your annual salary here.
Pakistan's tax year runs 1 July to 30 June. Use less than 12 if you started or left the job mid-year — your tax is worked out on what you actually earn in the year.
Advanced: EOBI and tax credits
The employee EOBI share is about Rs 370/month at the federal minimum wage (details). EOBI reduces your take-home pay, but it is not a tax deduction — it does not change your income tax.
Credits for things like approved donations or pension contributions reduce the tax itself (how tax credits work). Most salaried people have none — leave at 0 if unsure.
Your estimated monthly take-home
Rs 99,500 per month
on a salary of Rs 1,00,000 a month in tax year 2026-27 — Rs 11,94,000 a year after tax
Annual take-home: Rs 11,94,000. Annual salary Rs 12,00,000 − tax Rs 6,000.
Slab-by-slab breakdown
Pakistan's salary tax is charged in slices. Each slice of your salary is taxed at its own rate — earning more never makes your whole salary taxed at the higher rate.
| Slice of annual salary | Amount in slice | Rate | Tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 0 – Rs 6,00,000 | Rs 6,00,000 | 0% | Rs 0 |
| Rs 6,00,000 – Rs 12,00,000 | Rs 6,00,000 | 1% | Rs 6,000 |
| Total tax for the year | Rs 6,000 |
Monthly tax withheld is shown as the annual tax divided by the months you work — an estimate. Under Section 149 your employer works out your expected tax for the whole year and deducts it across your pay, adjusting for any tax credits you declare. See how salary tax withholding works.

Rates: FBR Withholding Income Tax Rate Card / Finance Act 2026 — last checked 4 November 2026. The first Rs 6,00,000 of salary in a year is tax-free; above that the 2026-27 rates are 1%, 11%, 20%, 25%, 29%, 32% and 35% in slices. There is no surcharge on salaried income in 2026-27.
| Worked example (2026-27) | How the tax is worked out | Tax per month |
|---|---|---|
| Salary Rs 1,00,000/month (Rs 12,00,000/year) | Only Rs 6,00,000 is above the tax-free slice: 1% × 6,00,000 = Rs 6,000 a year | Rs 500 |
| Salary Rs 1,50,000/month (Rs 18,00,000/year) | Rs 6,000 + 11% × 6,00,000 = Rs 72,000 a year | Rs 6,000 |
| Salary Rs 2,50,000/month (Rs 30,00,000/year) | Rs 1,16,000 + 20% × 8,00,000 = Rs 2,76,000 a year | Rs 23,000 |

What changed in the Finance Act 2026
- Middle-band rates cut: the slice from Rs 22,00,000 to Rs 32,00,000 now costs 20% (was 23%), and Rs 32,00,000 to Rs 41,00,000 costs 25% (was 30%). New slices of 29% and 32% apply above that.
- The 35% top rate now starts at Rs 70,00,000 of annual salary — last year it started at Rs 41,00,000.
- The 9% surcharge on high salaried incomes is abolished for 2026-27 (it still applied in 2025-26 above Rs 1 crore). It still applies to non-salaried income, at 10%.

How this calculator works — assumptions
- Your whole salary is taxed as salary income under the salaried slabs of the First Schedule. No deductions are taken off before tax (Pakistan's salary tax generally works this way — allowances that are part of your salary are taxable too).
- Annual income = monthly salary × months worked + annual bonus.
- 2026-27 salaried slabs: up to Rs 6,00,000 nil; then 1% to Rs 12,00,000; 11% to Rs 22,00,000; 20% to Rs 32,00,000; 25% to Rs 41,00,000; 29% to Rs 56,00,000; 32% to Rs 70,00,000; 35% above. No surcharge for salaried persons in 2026-27.
- 2025-26 salaried slabs: same up to Rs 22,00,000, then 23% to Rs 32,00,000; 30% to Rs 41,00,000; 35% above — plus a 9% surcharge where annual income exceeds Rs 1,00,00,000 (Section 4AB).
- Monthly tax is the annual tax divided by the months you work — labelled an estimate, because your employer's actual monthly deduction follows the Section 149 average-rate method and can vary across the year.
- EOBI, if you enter it, is taken off your take-home pay only. It never reduces the tax.
- Tax credits you enter are subtracted from the tax, down to zero. Nothing else is modelled: no other income, no exempt allowances, no prior-year adjustments.
- Figures are rounded to the nearest rupee; the statutory rounding of tax to the nearest Rs 10 is not applied.
Please note: these are estimates, not tax advice, and this site is not affiliated with the FBR. Your real deduction can differ if you have other income, tax credits, exempt allowances, or joined mid-year. See the methodology page for sources, formulas and our correction policy.
